Lyptus:
HearthSide Design has teamed with Weyerhaeuser on an innovative wood
that is the result of some of the most ecologically progressive
forestry practices. And better yet, these practices produce some
of the most beautiful wood in the world, Lyptus. A mantel made of
Lyptus boasts a tight grain similar to a more pricey mahogany and a
hardness and durability similar to maple. Its smooth and even
finish adds to the quality and elegance of HearthSide's mantels.
Lyptus is grown in South America on highly productive plantations,
interspersed with reintroduced indigenous trees to preserve native
ecosystems. Thanks to Lyptus, thousands of acres of cleared rain
forest are being replanted, mixed with other native trees and harvested
in a sustained fashion. HearthSide is the only mantel company to
offer Lyptus
